Éadaí Scoile | School Uniform
Tá dhá chulaith scoile ag na páistí don scoil, an ceann foirmiúil and an culaith reatha.
Tá roinnt eolas thíos maidir le héadaí scoile do pháiste do Mheán Fómhair.
We have updated our school uniform policy to reflect the changes in the new primary curriculum coming on stream.
We have two school uniforms, our formal uniform (red jumper / navy pants or pinafore / white shirt / tie) and our PE uniform (School tracksuit and green polo shirt).
Our Naí Bheaga (Junior Infants) and Naí Mhóra (Senior infants) wear the PE uniform only due to the amount of practical activities and play through Aistear in their classrooms. This is now extended to Rang a 1. Rang a 1 no longer need to wear their formal uniform to school. However, if your child has the formal uniform (from older siblings etc.) they are welcome to wear the formal uniform on Mondays and Tuesdays.
For all other classes (R2, R3, R4, R5 & R6), we are reducing the days of our formal uniform to Mondays and Tuesdays only.
This will allow for an increase in sports and practical activities as advocated by the new primary curriculum changes.
Cuir ainm do pháiste ar gach rud atá acu ag teacht ar scoil. Please label all you child’s belongings (as Gaeilge)
Cód Gléasadh Scoile School Dress Code
Please ensure that your child’s hair is tied by a bobbin or a hair band to ensure their hair is not covering their eyes/ faces in the classroom
Please avoid dressing your child in jewellery (chains / rings etc). Our health and safety policy states that jewellery can become a health hazrd especially during playtime on the yard. Also children get upset when their accessories get lost.
If your child has their ears pierced, please ensure that they are wearing stud- type earrings as anything else can get caught in materials etc.
Please avoid hair colouring or shaved designs on your child’s head during term time. Save the creativity for the summer holidays!
Please do not allow your child to wear fake nails to school. They provide quite the distraction and makes their work in the classroom very difficult to
complete.
• Breaches of the schools’ dress code will be dealt with under the schools Code of Behaviour.
• Parents will be notified/contacted by the secretary or class teacher if their child is not wearing the correct school clothing / footwear as outlined above.
Parents are reminded to avoid rubber DARK-SOLED shoes when purchasing school shoes for their child(ren).
BRÓGA LE BOINN DORCHA / DARK SOLED-SHOES
All pupils must wear NON-DARK SOLED SHOES as part of their formal or sports school uniform.
Shoes that claim to be ‘scuff resistant’ or non-marking’ are also not allowed if the sole of the shoe is dark/black. We have resisted appointing a ‘school shoe’ because pupils have individual needs to meet in relation to the shape and support provided by shoes. Parents are free to choose suitable footwear for their child(ren) once the sole of the shoe or runner is not dark/black. Shoes should be comfortable and practical for your child’s day in the classroom
and the school yard while meeting the Health & Safety requirements of the school.
We do not permit heels or shoes with wheels in the base of them or shoes that have light or noise functions. These shoes do not have a place in
the school classroom or schoolyard. If you need suggestions or help, CAIRDE, the parents’ association are happy to guide you on current shoes worn
in the school and where to find them.
